In Memory of
Bro. Franklin George
Gods Garden
God looked around his garden
and saw an empty place.
He then looked down on earth,
and saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
and lifted you to rest.
Gods garden must be a beautiful place,
He only takes the best.
He knew that you would never
get well on earth again.
He saw the road getting rough
and the hills hard to climb,
So he closed your weary eyes
and whispered "Peace Be Thine".
It broke our hearts to lose you,
but you're not going alone.
for part of us went with you
the day God called you home.
If tears could build a stairway
and heartaches could make a lane,
we'd walk a path to Heaven
and bring you home again.
The LCMC was the idea of Bro. Franklin George. However, due to Bro. George’s ailing health, his vision of a group of Christians singing the Lord’s song in strange land was not realized. In 2007 Bro. Paul Muah reorganized the Choir with only nine members. Its initial purpose was to minister at the inauguration of the Liberian Association of Metro Atlanta. But the movement of God was far too overwhelming for just an inauguration’s performance. Through planning, encouragement and active recruitment, the Choir has continued to show explosive growth. Today we can make our boast of over 35 active, committed and dedicated individuals who will do anything and go any where for the ministry of God’s word through Music.
Our primary goal is to spread the Gospel of Christ through music. Moreover, we also seek to promote awareness of the vestiges of Liberia, as a nation, here in the United States.
We embrace all genre of music that promotes the spreading of the Gospel. Particularly, we promote music that is representative of our African heritage, culture and experiences, but yet transforming race, gender and denominational biases.
LCMC is blessed to have recording artists, trained and skilled musicians and lots of people:
- Who love the Lord.
- Who are committed to the causes of the Liberian
community here in Georgia.
- Who are unashamed of their African ancestry.
- Who are unapologetic about praising God
the African way
The LCMC is open to individuals from all ethnic and racial groups who desire to share in the philosophy of promoting peace and love through the arts and the spreading of the Gospel of Christ through Music, diversity is embraced and welcomed. Our choir is Christ centered and Christian based. LCMC is currently made up of 35 adults from the Metropolitan Atlanta area, including singers, drummers, keyboardist and a guitarist. We believe that knowledge and shared experience lead to understanding, acceptance, love and joy and as we pass on these gifts in our ministry and our daily lives—ultimately, to build a stronger community.
Plans are underway to organize the Liberian Community Youth Choir. As we pray for God’s guidance, we’re envisioning a medium through which we will connect our youths to our Liberian heritage through music and arts. Pray for us as we seek ways to engage our community, parents and family members together in forming a stronger Community.
“…Still singing the Lord’s song in a strange Land.”
God’s blessing.
